Advanced Five-Stage Filtration

Cartridge 1 - Stages 1+2) The first cartridge combines a polypropylene sediment filter with a polyphosphate-impregnated carbon block. The sediment filter reduces dirt, dust, silt, microplastics, and other particulate matter in your water.

The carbon block reduces chlorine, disinfectant by-products, VOCs, and offensive tastes and odors. The polyphosphate embedded into the carbon matrix helps to reduce scale-causing calcium and magnesium, and prolong system life.

Cartridge 2 - Stage 3) The second cartridge contains a reverse osmosis membrane that dramatically reduces total dissolved solids, and can help to reduce cysts, minerals & heavy metals, PFAs, and other contaminants.

Cartridge 3 - Stages 4+5) The final cartridge combines a final carbon polish with remineralizing media to add healthy minerals back into the water, and remove any residual bad taste or odor from your water. The final cartridge is contained inside the core of the stage 1 filter, and does not need to be installed or replaced separately.

Preparing for Installation

1. Check the parts checklist and ensure that all parts are included and in good condition.
2. Determine your installation location, ensuring that the unit is placed within reach of a power outlet, your cold water line, and your sink’s drain line for the waste water hose connection.
3. Ensure that your water pressure is within the required range. If the pressure is over 0.4MPa (roughly 60 psi), you may need to install a pressure reducing valve.
4. Prepare tools, drip bucket, and drop cloths prior to beginning the installation.

Installing the Feedwater Adapter

Attention: The water supply line to the system must be from the cold water supply line only. Hot water will severely damage your system.

1. Turn off the cold water supply to the faucet by turning the angle stop valve completely off.
2. Open the cold water sink faucet to relieve pressure from the water line.
3. Prior to disconnecting the cold water line, lay down a bowl or bucket to catch any water drips. Unscrew the cold water supply line.

Instructions for 3-way Adapter for Air Gap Faucet

4. Ensure the O-ring is seated inside the feed water adapter on the female end of the adapter, and the ½” to ¾” Adapter Coupler, if using, and connect it to the cold water supply pipe. Tighten using a wrench or pliers.
5. Check that the O-ring in the female kitchen faucet connector line is still properly seated. Connect the kitchen faucet connector line onto the male end of the feed water adapter, using provided metal adapter as needed, and tightening with a wrench or pliers.
6. Insert the ⅜” white tubing and connect the other end to the inlet port on the RO system.

Instructions for Installing Filtered Water Line Direct to Kitchen Tap

1. Install the ¾” NPT to ⅜” QC direct feedwater adapter directly onto the cold water line, using ½” to ¾” Adapter Coupler if needed.
2. Insert white source water line into adapter, and connect the other end to the inlet port on the RO system.
3. Connect the blue filtered water line to “Drinking Faucet” port on the RO unit, and connect the other end to the cold water line on your kitchen faucet. You may require an adapter, depending on the type of faucet you have.

Installing the Air-Gap Faucet

SP-FC100 Installation Instructions

1. Before mounting the faucet, install the hoses on the faucet’s underside.
   Note: If you are not using your faucet’s air gap feature, then you may skip steps 2 and 3.
2. Push the 1/4" black wastewater tube onto the smaller, 1/4" air gap barb fitting at the bottom of the faucet, making sure to push it all the way onto the fitting.
3. Push the 3/8" red wastewater tube onto the 3/8" air gap barb fitting at the bottom of the faucet, making sure to push it all the way onto the fitting.
4. Next, slide the escutcheon onto the bottom of the faucet, lining up the holes on the base plate with the 3 inlet/outlet port stems on the faucet. Ensure that the escutcheon has its rubber O-ring preinstalled on the bottom.
5. Insert the blue, red, and black tubing and the faucet stem through the pre-drilled sink or countertop hole.
6. From the underside of the sink, slide on the slotted metal washer, spacer, star washer, washer, and mounting nut. (Note: only install the thick plastic spacer if your countertop or sink is less than ½” thick. If ½” or more, spacer is not needed).
   • Check the orientation of the faucet, then tighten the locking nut securely. Use a wrench to tighten. Do not overtighten fittings.
7. Connect the 1/4” blue filtered water hose to the Drinking Water Faucet port on the RO system.
8. (Air Gap Installation Only) Connect the other end of the 1/4" wastewater line to the RO system’s wastewater output port.
9. (Air Gap Installation Only) Connect the other end of the 3/8" wastewater line to the drain saddle.
10. Flush the faucet with water and check for leaks.

SP-FC210 Faucet Installation Instructions

1. (Air Gap Installation Only) Before mounting the faucet, install the water tubing on the faucet. Begin by pushing the 1/4" wastewater tube onto the smaller, 1/4" barb fitting at the bottom of the faucet, making sure to push it completely onto the barb.
2. (Air Gap Installation Only) Push the 3/8" wastewater tube onto the 3/8" barb fitting at the bottom of the faucet, making sure to push it completely onto the barb.
3. Slide the escutcheon base of the faucet up over the water lines, and insert it into the bottom of the body of the faucet.
4. Insert the faucet lines and stem into the hole on the countertop or sink. For the next few steps, it may be easier if you have a second person hold the faucet in position above the counter.
5. Underneath the counter, insert the black rubber washer in the proper position over the water lines and faucet stem, making sure to line up the pieces with the hole on the washer.
6. Slide on the metal washer against the rubber washer and then slide up the plastic spacer. It may be easier to try and mount both pieces simultaneously.
7. Screw the black lock washer wing nut onto the threaded faucet stem under the metal washer or optional spacer, making sure to tighten but not overtighten.
8. Depending upon the size of your undersink water filter’s filtered water hose, screw the 1/4" or 3/8" union adapter onto the end of the threaded faucet stem. Be sure to tighten but not overtighten.
9. Connect the filtered water hose from the undersink water filter system to the union adapter.
10. (Air Gap Installation Only) Connect the other end of the 1/4" wastewater line to the RO system’s wastewater output port.
11. (Air Gap Installation Only) Connect the other end of the 3/8" wastewater line to the drain saddle.
12. Flush the faucet with water and check for leaks.

If you are using an air gap faucet, but not using the air gap feature, then you simply need to run the ¼” wastewater line from the Drain port on the RO system to the drain saddle (next step). If you are using the included ⅜” drain saddle, you will need to use a ¼” to ⅜” QC adapter to connect your waster water line to a length of ⅜” line for the drain saddle.

Mounting the Drain Saddle

Warning: The drain saddle creates a wastewater connection with the sink drain and is designed to fit a standard 1-1/2" OD drain pipe. Drain saddles should always be installed at least 1-1/2" above the nut of the p-trap on a vertical or horizontal drain. Do not install near a garbage disposal. Take extreme caution to only drill through one side of the drain pipe.

The SP-RO1000TL ships with a ¼” wastewater drain line. If you are using an air gap faucet with a ⅜” wastewater line, you can use a ⅜” drain saddle, or use a ¼” to ⅜” coupler (2 included) to convert your ⅜” air gap wastewater line to a ¼” line to fit the included drain saddle.

Locate a spot at least 1-1/2" above the nut of the p-trap on the drain pipe that is convenient for installing the drain saddle. It is recommended to install on horizontal piping to minimize dripping noise.

1. The small, square, black foam gasket with a circle cut out of the middle must be applied to the inside of the drain saddle. Remove the backing and stick to the drain saddle as shown.
2. Using the ¼” drill bit (3/8" if you are installing a ⅜” drain saddle) drill into only one side of the drain pipe. Do not drill through both sides of the pipe.
3. Assemble the drain saddle around the drain pipe and align the opening with the hole drilled in the previous step - you may use a small screwdriver or a pencil to feed through the drain saddle hole to aid with the alignment.
4. Measure the ¼” red tube from the unit to the drain saddle on the drain pipe and make a straight cut to the correct length.

Notice: The red 3/8" drain tube to the drain saddle must be as SHORT and STRAIGHT as possible. Try to position the hose so that there is a downward slope from the system (or faucet) to the drain saddle to allow for proper drainage without causing the tube to stretch or sag.

Tips:

1. If tubing is looped, it can cause water to come out of the air gap faucet.
2. Looped tubing can shorten the life expectancy of the RO membrane.

Install the System

Ensure that the hoses are all of a sufficient length before final installation.

Install filter cartridges into the filter housing, following the designated lettering.

1. Run white source water line from the feedwater adapter to the RO inlet port.
2. Connect the red wastewater line to the wastewater port on the RO system. If you are using an Air Gap faucet, the other end of this line connects to the ¼” spigot on the bottom of your Air Gap faucet.
3. If you are not using an Air Gap faucet, this line goes directly to the drain saddle.
4. If you are using an Air Gap faucet, connect the ⅜” inch red wastewater tube to the drain saddle (you will need to use your own ⅜” drain saddle, or use an adapter).
5. Connect the blue filtered water line to your faucet.

WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock:

Ensure that there are no visible leaks, and no sitting water near the unit. Place power transformer somewhere safe, away from any potential leak areas. Do not allow transformer to come into contact with water. We recommend placing the transformer on top of the tower, or wall-mounting it.

Plug the system in. Run the system, checking for leaks. If there are any leaks, shut off the system and address them before continuing.

When the system is operating correctly and with no leaks, turn on the water, and allow it to run for at least one hour, and up to two hours, to flush the system, discarding all water during that time.

Your Tankless RO filtration system is now ready for use.

Changing the Filters

The filters will last for 12 months, or 2,040 gallons--whichever comes first. Normally, the "SCB" and "RO" indicator lights are lit with a white light. The system keeps track of the amount of water put through the system, and when 2,040 gallons has been reached, the "SCB" and "RO" lights will light up solid red. At this point, the system will stop producing water. The "ON" icon will breathe white at this point, and a buzzer will sound once, 30 times, once per second, to alert you to the need to change the filters.

When you are ready to change the filters, simply press the button next to each filter name to eject the current filter, and install the new filters. After replacing filters, press the "Filter Reset" button to reset internal filter life meter. Flush system for at least an hour after replacing filters.

When using this electrical appliance, always follow basic safety precautions, to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, and/or bodily harm to persons or damage to the device, including the following:

• Do not touch hot surfaces.
• To protect against electric shock, fire, and possible injury to persons and/or system damage, do not immerse the machine, its individual parts, or its cord or plug in water or any other liquid.
• Closely monitor children around the device. Young children should not use the device themselves.
• Unplug the device during periods of extended disuse, and before cleaning the device or changing the filters. Allow the device to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning.
• Do not plug in or attempt to operate the appliance if it is visibly cracked or damaged, or if it has a damaged cord or plug. Contact your supplier immediately in such a case.
• Do not use outdoors.
• Do not let the power cord dangle over the edge of a table or counter, or come into contact with hot surfaces.
• Do not place on, or nearby, a hot stovetop, or in a heated oven.
• To disconnect, remove plug from wall outlet. Pull plug from head, not cord; do not yank cord.
• Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
• Use extreme caution when dispensing hot water.
• For household/indoor use only.
• Read all instructions on the system and in the manual thoroughly before setting the device up for the first time.

FAQs

• Q: The machine is not producing water.
  A: Check to ensure that the filters are not expired. If filters are still good, check to ensure that device is plugged in. The device occassionally enters an automatic flushing mode; if you can hear water flowing, but water is not being produced, wait for the flushing to finish. It should only take around 20 seconds for the flushing cycle to finish.
• Q: The machine has stopped producing water, and the "SCB" and "RO" lights are lit, but it hasn't been a year.
  A: The filters are rated for either 1 year of use, or 2,040 gallons (whichever comes first). If the filter lights are red, that means that the device has reached its preset filtration limit. Replace the filters, and use "Filter Reset" button to reset filter life.
• Q: The system occassionally makes noises even when it is not in use. Why?
  A: The system will automatically flush the filters after 24 hours of system disuse. This is normal, and keeps the filters fresh.
• Q: After I have used the system for a while, the system stops for a short period, and I can hear a different noise. What is going on?
  A: After 20 minutes of continuous use, the system will automatically enter a 15 second flushing cycle. This is normal, and freshens the filters after heavy use.
• Q: The "ON" and "ERROR" indicator lights are solid red (not flashing); what does that mean?
  A: The system has detected an internal leak and automatically shut off water production. Unplug the unit, and do not use. Contact your water dealer or plumber for support.
